Privacy Policy
GutWell AI is a personal gut-health tracking app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and how you can export or delete it.
Last updated: August 2026
Also available in Deutsch.
1. Data We Collect
GutWell AI collects the data you voluntarily enter: check-in logs (stool type, bloating, pain, energy, mood, water intake), food logs (meal names, meal types, and meal photos you choose to analyse), symptom logs (type, severity), supplement notes, onboarding answers (your gut concerns and goals), and basic account information (email address, display name).
If you use voice input to describe or correct a meal, your speech is converted to text by your device’s speech recognition and only the resulting text is stored — we do not keep an audio recording.
If you grant location access for local food suggestions, your approximate location is used during that analysis. This is optional and you can decline or withdraw it at any time in your device settings.
When you correct or ask follow-up questions about an AI analysis, your correction and the revised analysis are stored as part of that meal entry.
On this website
If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you submit and the time of submission, solely to notify you when GutWell AI launches. Our hosting provider processes standard server request logs (such as IP address and browser type) for the operation and security of the site.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to provide the GutWell AI service — displaying your trends, calculating your gut health score, showing possible food–symptom patterns, personalising AI meal analysis, and sending reminders you configure.
We never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking. GutWell AI contains no advertising SDK and does not ask for permission to track you across other apps or websites.
3. Service Providers We Share Data With
To run GutWell AI we use a small number of service providers:
- Supabase — stores your account and all logs described above. The project’s primary database region is configured in the EU.
- Google Gemini — when you analyse a meal, the photo and the context you provide (description, symptoms, conditions, supplements, and — if you have enabled it — your approximate location) is transmitted to Google’s Gemini API so that your analysis can be generated. Google’s handling of data submitted to that API is governed by Google’s own API terms.
- Apple and RevenueCat — involved only if you purchase a subscription, in order to process and verify it. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Vercel — hosts this website. It does not receive data from the app.
This version of GutWell AI does not use analytics or crash-reporting services. We do not sell or share your personal health data with any other third parties.
Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where that is the case, your data may be processed outside the EEA.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Supabase, encrypted in transit and at rest. Row-level security means only you can access your own data. Authentication tokens are kept in your device’s secure storage. AI requests are made by our server, so AI provider keys are never included in the app.
No system can guarantee absolute security, but we use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained while your account is active.
You can export your data at any time from your Profile as a CSV file, shared through your device’s share sheet.
You can permanently delete your account and its associated data in the app: Profile → Delete Account. Deletion cannot be undone.
Meal photos are not retained by GutWell AI once an analysis request has completed. The resulting analysis text is stored in your account history until you delete it or your account.
Waitlist email addresses are kept until the launch notification has been sent, or until you ask us to remove yours.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, export, correct, or delete your personal data (GDPR Articles 15–20). Your check-ins and symptom entries are health-related information: we process them only to provide the features you ask for, and you can stop that processing at any time by deleting the entries or your account.
You can exercise these rights in the app or by contacting support@getgutwell.app. You may also withdraw location, camera, microphone, or notification permissions at any time in your device settings.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
7. Minimum Age
GutWell AI is intended for people aged 16 or older. If you believe someone under this age has created an account, contact support@getgutwell.app and we will delete it.
8. Cookies and This Website
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and does not load fonts or scripts from third-party servers. The GutWell AI app does not use browser cookies; it uses local device storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, which is necessary for the app to work.
9. Health and Wellness Positioning
GutWell AI is a wellness and self-tracking tool. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. AI-generated analyses are informational only and may be inaccurate. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional about any medical concern.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We will notify users of material changes through the app or by email, and where applicable law requires your express consent to a change, we will ask for it.
11. Operator and Contact
GutWell AI is operated by Jafar Rusban Javanmardi, Sedanstraße 13, 65183 Wiesbaden, Germany. For privacy questions, or to exercise any of the rights above, contact support@getgutwell.app.
